Reverend Dr. Joy Haymer Agness is a distinguished leader, educator, and entrepreneur with a Doctorate in Theology from Christ is the Answer University, specializing in Religious Studies. She is the CEO and President of Joy Agness Events International, an upmarket event planning firm known for its motto, “The Royal Treatment.” Her company coordinates luxury weddings and events across South Florida, the Caribbean, and internationally, delivering extraordinary experiences with meticulous attention to detail, opulent design, and a signature “wow factor.”
Dr. Joy is a Certified Preston Bailey Wedding & Event Designer, accredited by the Lovegevity Wedding Planning Institute (LWPI), and holds a Wedding Planning Diploma. With over 25 years of experience, she has become the go-to planner for brides seeking elegance and uniqueness. Her designs are bold and innovative, transforming spaces into breathtaking affairs that leave guests mesmerized for years to come. She has also hosted large-scale events such as the annual Reggae Carnival Fest and collaborated with industry leaders on major projects.
Her latest initiative, the Love n Sunshine Destination Wedding Conference, is a premier training resource for luxury wedding professionals, featuring icons like Preston Bailey, Grace Ormonde, and Mar Jennings. Dr. Joy’s excellence has earned her numerous accolades, including Fan Favorite at Biz Bash Florida Expo & Awards (2011), induction into Cambridge WHO’s WHO (2008) and Strathmore’s WHO’s WHO Worldwide (2012), and the International Master Planner Award (2017–2020) from the American Bridal Association.

Dr. Joy is affiliated with leading industry organizations, including AFWPI, ISES, ABC, MPI, and NAWP, and serves on the Executive Board of the Greater Miami Wedding & Event Planners group, Focus Miami. With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Guyana, she is also a prolific speaker on entrepreneurship, weddings, and etiquette, and a certified HIV/AIDS counselor.
